About Activate Tāmaki Makaurau

Existing Auckland businesses with 100 employees or fewer who are affected by COVID-19 restrictions can apply for a share of the government’s 60-million dollar Activate Tāmaki Makaurau support program

It’s been designed by the New Zealand government as a way of connecting Auckland businesses with business support and resources. BYBNZ is proud to be a partner and registered Activate service provider.

We’re able to help you with the following:

Step 2

We will book a call to discuss our services and how we can best help you and your business. We’ll prepare a proposal that suits the funding requirements and submit it for approval. To add extra help, we will match the Government Grant funds with Our Own Grant dollar for dollar on services. Basically get double the help!

Step 3

Once approved and signed, we’ll work together on your identified needs and program goals. Once the Activate services have been delivered and you’re satisfied Auckland Unlimited will pay us directly.

What is Activate Tāmaki Makaurau

Activate Tāmaki Makaurau is the delivery programme for the business advice and mental health support for Auckland businesses announced by the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Small Business. This is led through Auckland Unlimited as the Regional Business Partner in the Auckland region, and supported by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE).

Auckland Unlimited will coordinate the wider Auckland business support network in a collective approach to reach Auckland’s diverse business community, including Māori and Pacific businesses.

I've accessed other government funding, can I still apply?

Yes. Eligible businesses can register and apply for Activate Tāmaki Makaurau Business Advice, Implementation Grants, Health and Wellbeing Support and/or Business Community Resources even if they have accessed previous government funding such as the Wage Subsidy, Resurgence Payment or Regional Business Partner Network support.

How much funding is available for Auckland businesses and is it guaranteed?

Activate Tāmaki Makaurau funding is limited and not guaranteed until businesses have

(1) successfully registered,
(2) requested a proposal/quote from a service provider,
(3) approved their proposal/quote, and
(4) had their funding application approved.

Is there a fee for applying?

No. There are no fees for businesses applying for Activate Tāmaki Makaurau, a fully government-funded economic support package for Auckland businesses.

Is this a cash payment?

No, this is not a cash payment. Activate Tāmaki Makaurau pays for specific services, for business advice and/or implementing business advice. The Resurgence Support Payment and Wage Subsidy Scheme are more suitable for businesses’ cashflow concerns.
